Artist's Comments

These spiders were everywhere along our walk in Kyushu, Japan. They lined the trees with their webs above and next to the path. They seem to eat mainly butterflies that get caught in their web, and there butterfly wings littering the ground.
It took us some time to figure out where all the wings were coming from, until we looked closely at the tree branches.

The spiders have pink bellies, green and yellow striped backs, and black and yellow striped legs ( as seen in the picture) and are roughly two or three inches long.

I love spiders. I had a pet tarantella once. I can't spell, oh well.
